The Ultimate Guide to Making Your Video ROCK!

Let’s Get Creative!

So you wanna’ make a video or webshow episode? Awesome! We’re here to walk you through some simple steps that will ensure your video is top notch!

  • Step 1
  • Step 2
  • Step 3
  • Step 4

Step 3: Production (lighting, framing, camera angles, sound…show time!)

Now you’re all set to start shooting your video! But wait, you actually have no clue where to place the camera or even what angle to shoot from! No worries, that’s why we’re here!

As we mentioned in the Pre-Production section you want to make sure you think about your lighting. Mainly, that you have enough light! If it’s too dark we won’t be able to see you, and that’s no good! Unless you’re going for a spooky feel, which in that case go for it. Just make sure it’s a choice. Check out this video for more tips on lighting.

The next thing to think about is framing (what is seen in your camera). Make sure that whoever is in front of the camera is framed correctly – so that they’re fully seen in the camera. Most of the time you’ll want people to be able to see you from about the waist up. And since we’re shooting an Arts & Crafts episode you want all of your props and art work to be seen as well. If you’re shooting your video handheld, which can be a really fun & creative way of filming, make sure that it isn’t too shaky.

Those are the basics. But you can also get fancy with your camera work. Check out this video for fun camera angles and different ways you can film your video to make it even cooler.

And don’t forget about sound! You’ll want to make sure that the microphone on your camera is working. If you aren’t sure you can plug earphones into your camera to see, or ask a parent for help. Also, do you want a theme song or background music? If so, pick out your tunes!

Ok, now you’re really set to shoot your video! It’s show time!
